If you can take your troubles as they come, if you can maintain your calm and composure amid pressing duties and unending engagements, if you can rise above the distressing and disturbing circumstances in which you are set down, you have discovered a priceless secret of daily living.
Even if you are forced to go through life weighed down by some unescapable misfortune or handicap and yet live each day as it comes with poise and peace of mind, you have succeeded where most people have failed. You have wrought a greater achievement than a person who rules a nation. Have you achieved poise, equanimity, and peace of mind?..
Are you mature or immature?
Khalil Gibran wrote “Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.”
Whatever your suffering, your Higher Power never runs out of miracles. Life is a dark psychic jungle but the Hero’s Journey will take you through it. Spirituality is not the purview of the weak: It is a journey for the brave. Surrender to your Higher Power and, with patience, you will heal from your divided soul and psyche. When your heart expands, your life expands.
A blazing dawn always follows the darkest night. Even the deepest darkness can reveal God’s light and therefore yours too.
Enlightenment is not a learning process, but rather one of a great remembering who you truly are and an unlearning of the delusional self: The ego mind. This has been taught by all the prophets, by spiritual Masters such as Carl Jung and William Shakespeare, through Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, the Tower of Life, and also through 12 step recovery, A Course in Miracles, the Hero’s Journey, and established religion such as Buddhism and Jesus’ teachings. These are all metaphors for the same healing spiritual path: This is the process of looking within.
You can either be an instrument of healing, or an instrument of harm. If you are the latter, you are ultimately only hurting yourself. The ego’s solution to pain is to project its source onto others, which simply perpetuates its pain. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi “Speak only if it improves on the silence.” Do you improve on the silence? As Thumper said in Bambi “If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say it at all.” That says it all... You can safely ignore those dysfunctional people who practice harm through ‘Cancel Culture.’ In fact it shows spiritual maturity to put a boundary down to such projection and toxicity. Spiritual, mental, and emotional maturity is learning to walk away from people and situations that threaten your peace...
