Don't be a Snake

Updated: Jan 29

If your heart is full of hate, anger, prejudice, and condemnation, there is no room for love and forgiveness. Where there is hatred, there is selfishness, just as where there is love, there is selflessness.

It's only by rising above selfishness that you can find it in your heart to let go of the hatred and other negativity that keeps you blinkered to the good in the world, and only then will you realise the power of love and selflessness, and the positivity it brings into your life.

Clearing hatred from your heart not only benefits you but all those around you. Let go of hate and let the light of love into your life.

If you act with anger and hate you will only hurt yourself. You need to let go of your anger and move on...

Don't be a snake...

Anthony Hopkins on hate and the snake

Marcus Aurelius wrote in 'Meditations' that if we “Do away with the opinion I am harmed, and the harm is cast away too. Do away with being harmed, and harm disappears.”

Just as seeds planted may take years to yield a crop, the results and consequences of your thoughts and actions today may not be instantaneous, but you will reap what you sow. The life you have today is the result and consequence of how you've lived your life up until this point. If you have sown seeds of anger, hate, bitterness, or any other negative emotion, the life you have will reflect this. Just as the same applies to sowing seeds of kindness, compassion, love, and other positive emotions.

Contemplate this; If the metaphorical crop you are harvesting today is failing to provide what you want, you need to look back and consider the seeds you have sown. Raking away old weeds and planting fresh new seeds may be all that is needed to produce the life you want and desire.

Just as force often leads to rebellion in times of war, there is nothing to be gained by forcing your opinions and points of view on other people. If it is not something they genuinely believe and accept, forcing your views on them will probably lead to more disagreements and rebelling against it even more.

Change should come from the heart. To bring about change in yourself, there can be no conflict between your thoughts, words, and actions. To bring about change in others, the benefits of change must become something that they want for themselves.

The most effective way to achieve this outcome is to be a living example of those benefits. There is no force required when all that being better and doing better brings into your life is clearly evident in your every thought, word, and action. The peace you have found will inspire others to find the same. It will become their own heartfelt desire.

Force will give rise to fear and anger, whereas love will give rise to peace and reform. Being good and doing good brings all that is good into your life. Teach peace.

A world caught up in the selfish pursuit of meaningless pleasures and external validation is unable to understand that true joy is found in selflessness.

Namaste.

Sending you love, light, and blessings brothers.
